Drew Fossum is Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Tenaska and its affiliates and is responsible for assuring that Tenaska’s businesses fully comply with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements. He also manages Tenaska’s involvement in litigated proceedings and is responsible for structuring and negotiating significant transactions. He is a member of Tenaska’s Executive Leadership Board.
Before assuming his current role in 2017, Mr. Fossum served as Vice President and General Counsel at Tenaska Marketing Ventures.
Before joining Tenaska in 2006, Mr. Fossum was Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Officer of Panhandle Energy, Senior Vice President and General Counsel of CrossCountry Energy and Vice President and General Counsel of Northern Natural Gas Company and Transwestern Pipeline Company. At Panhandle Energy and its predecessor companies, he was responsible for legal matters involving five major natural gas pipelines, one liquefied natural gas import terminal and ancillary businesses. He has led a legal team in the successful spin-off of an interstate pipeline business unit from its bankrupt parent company. He has prepared, filed, and successfully settled major Federal Energy Regulatory Commission proceedings and closed numerous significant transactions, including debt and equity financings, pipeline expansion projects, asset acquisitions and divestitures.
Mr. Fossum also practiced law in Washington, D.C. as an associate at Baker Botts, LLP and as a partner at Wiley, Rein & Fielding, LLP, where he represented clients in the natural gas, electric and refined petroleum products markets.
Mr. Fossum has a Bachelor of Arts in Government and International Affairs from Augustana College and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Southern Methodist University School of Law.
